One of the perks of being an RDHAP Connect member is being featured in a member spotlight on our website and social media pages. Today, we’re spotlighting Reynalda Brown, RDHAP. Read below for her interview with Elly Francisco.

Where do you practice?
On-Site Dental Hygiene Services serving the Calaveras, Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne Counties.
Where did you attend dental hygiene school?
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2015.
Where did you take your RDHAP training?
I completed my RDHAP education at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2023.
What motivated you to become an RDHAP?
Being allowed to have greater control over my own schedule, while still doing what I love, motivated me to become an RDHAP. The most rewarding aspect has been making a direct impact on those who had given up hope of having traditional dental hygiene care.
What type of RDHAP practice do you have?
We are a traveling dental hygiene practice with all the equipment necessary to provide services at the comfort of the patient’s place of residence. We have treated patients in senior living facilities, homes, and hospice. We provide care in whatever manner if most comfortable and safe for the patient. We have a patient chair for when patient transfer is possible. If not, we can see patients in their wheelchairs or beds. We hope to expand to schools in the future to help combat childhood caries.
How do you help your patients find a dentist if they need dental care?
If my patients have Medi-Cal, I direct the responsible party to check the Medi-Cal provider directory online to find a dentist nearby. For cash or privately insured patients, I always recommend that the responsible party seek treatment from their own family dentist, if possible, since they already have an established rapport with them. It all depends on whether the family can transfer their loved one. I have been fortunate to have a DDS, and I work as an RDH, seeing patients who cannot leave their place of residence on some occasions.
My patients pay for services rendered in cash, Zelle, personal checks, or by having me bill Medi-Cal, if applicable. I am only in-network with Medi-Cal. I am an out-of-network provider for all other insurances.
After I have provided dental hygiene care, I make sure to follow up with the responsible party, or patient, if possible, on the same day of treatment, later in the evening. Depending on the treatment delivered, I may even follow up days post-treatment just to make sure all is well.
